Training Plan For First Half Marathon
Posted: February 3rd, 2011 | Author: BobbyLove | Filed under: races, running | 2 Comments »So yesterday I put the pencil to the paper and signed up for the Danbury Half Marathon on April 3rd. The first thought was, “hell yeah, finally I got something committed to drive my recently lazy ass towards…” Then I thought, “holy shit, thats like 8 weeks away…”
I’ve modified a training plan that looked decent from here:
http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/inter.htm
and by modified, I mean I lopped off the first 4 weeks!
So here’s the plan people:
I’m also running Ragnar in May then another Half in June – the first half of 2011 is coming together nicely!
I’ll keep you posted here, I look forward to training as I’ve just taken a 2 week hiatus to let the body recover and to avoid the 9 foot high snow in my town…spring, please come soon!

Glad to see you also have the winter time blues! I’m so tired of running on the dreadmill.
My first 1/2 is April 10 and I’m using Hal’s plan too (however, I’m using the novice plan).
I’m back in my VFFs and never felt better. Thanks for your continued inspiration!
yeah Libby, this winter has been particularly BLAH…
I ran a few times in a row on the treadmill and my body just started to ache…it’s just too hard on me I guess.
I’m feeling awesome now though. Well rested and ready to start the next 8 weeks to target.
Glad to hear the VFF’s are on your feet, and a half a week after me! Good luck, let me know how the training and race goes!
